The fruit is as tasty as it looks with a very high sugar content and melon-like flavor.
This is a medium large hybrid variety, ranging from 2½ to 4½ lbs. each, with a brilliant salmon colored flesh and spotted yellow green skin.
If stored properly, Tai Nung Papayas have an excellent shelf-life. Sometimes the variety is also called Formosa, which means beautiful in Portuguese.
Unlike other varieties, the Tai Nung is ripe and ready to eat when 50% green with a little give.
